We are constantly bombarded by news about change. Enter the words “changing world” in Google and you get more than 800 million results. A cheesy act to do, but change is real, change is now, change has happened - all around us – and it always will.
We’ve strived to achieve balance in a myriad of places across our lives for decades – not least at work. I won’t be going into that well-canvased recipe for misery we call ‘Work:Life Balance’ here, but one area I reckon we’ve got monumentally out of whack is that of the hard and soft systems in our workplaces.
This past weekend my youngest daughter Scarlett and I collected for the annual guide dog ‘Red Puppy’ appeal organised by the Blind Foundation. We do this most years and always have a lot of fun. This year we decided to run short experiments to see what influences people to donate. It’s completely unscientific but it makes for wonderful conversations about the world, society and the weird things people do to avoid forking-out some loose change.
